Free ID theft protection

Following the security breach to VSD’s security system, VEA president Ann Giles immediately contacted the National Education Association for help in putting together a package to protect all Vancouver school employees who were compromised.  The district then purchased the fraud prevention and identity restoration service coverage for all current and former employees whose personal information may have been compromised.

The insurance is effective for a one-year period from November 9, 2009, which is the day the security breach was discovered.  Individuals may purchase an additional two years of protection.

The Core Identity Protection brochure contains detailed information about the coverage.  The provider, Identity Fraud, Inc., has a hotline that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, that employees may call to report an incident or to ask questions.  Their hotline number is 1-866-4ID-FRAUD, or 1-866-443-3728.
